The Gordonvale residence transformed a traditional two bedroom worker’s cottage into a contemporary tropical dwelling in 2007 for under $150,000. The rear of the house was reconfigured to celebrate the view to the pyramid and capture the south east breezes. The back verandah is a quintessential inside-outside space that has polished, shot edge decking for the floor, with walls and windows on three sides. It opens to the garden with industrial tilt doors clad in semi-translucent polycarbonate sheet – a much cheaper alternative to bi-fold doors.
